Augmented reality as a technology has had a bit of a rocky start, with a lack of interoperability between platforms, file formats, and other issues slowing widespread adoption. For instance, my primary use of AR is using Google Lens to 挺进朋友人妻张婉莹身体 real-time translations of other languages. The Legend goes a step further by allowing 3D models to interact with the environment as well as the user, a compelling use of AR technology.

The Legend – Storytelling via Augmented Reality

The Legend is an interactive book that uses an iOS / Android app to enable augmented reality that allows readers to bring themselves into the story.

This style of augmented reality is not new (the Dali museum in St. Petersburg, Florida uses similar technology both in the museum as well as in their merchandise), but Legend goes one step further by allowing the readers to scan their faces and become the main character. While reading the book, users are prompted to take advantage of the AR features to interact with characters and props, furthering the story.

Of note to 3D printing enthusiasts, the Legend hardcover book is advertised as being 100% handmade, and this includes the 3D cover. The cover is described as “3D Printed” and also being made with “Polymer Clay”. Based on the photos provided, it appears that the gold cover has been made on an FDM 3D printer, with visible striations and layer lines underneath a coat of gold paint. The black cover has a raised relief of Medusa, and appears to also be 3D printed and applied to the cover. This is an interesting application of 3D printing technology and I believe this is the first 3D printed book cover I’ve seen.

Book of Asmodeus

This is not the first foray into AR storytelling for Realic, Inc. An earlier 挺进女处紧嫩疼哭挣扎 campaign of theirs with a very similar premise (an interactive horror story called The Book of Asmodeus featuring AR models and a 126 page physical book with 3D printed cover) was successfully completed with a total of $28,030 raised. The comments from backers are largely positive, with some concerns being raised about app operability in future versions of iOS and Android.

How to Buy the Legend AR Book

The Legend is currently active and fully funded on 挺进女处紧嫩疼哭挣扎, with over $39,000 successfully raised against a $5,000 goal as of the writing of this article. Book Review – Made by Designers for Designers

One look at the cover of The 3D Printing Handbook and it’s clear: this is a book made by designers, for designers. The graphics are clean and crisp, the text is legible without being distracting, and the book is packed with useful information without being too dense. I’ve owned this book since 2018, and it’s a favorite on my additive bookshelf both as a conversation starter (“I didn’t know 3D Hubs make a book!”) and also as a colorful and useful reference guide.

3D Printing Technologies & Designing for 3D Printing

If you’re new to the 3D printing industry, you may already be familiar with filament-fed desktop 3D printers and want to learn more about other additive technologies, such as DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering). Conversely, if you work in a dental lab and have experience with SLA/DLP (StereoLithogrAphy and Direct Light Processing), you may be curious to learn more about other production-oriented printing processes.

The 3D Printing Handbook covers five of the seven processes described by the ASO/ASTM 52900 Standard: Material Extrusion, Vat Polymerization, Powder Bed Fusion, Material Jetting, and Binder Jetting. The remaining two, Direct Energy Deposition and Sheet Lamination, are less common types of additive manufacturing and are briefly described but not covered further.

Joshua M. Pearce starts his book by bringing forward the open source philosophy and tries to convince readers about the sharing model. As an example, he brings to the spotlight a design of a basic practical thing that can be 挺进朋友人妻张婉莹身体d and modified at home using any 3D printer, and then he scales the open-source idea resulting in a fully autonomous water habitat of the future.

This Book is For:

– Makers. This book is useful for makers that have not decided what their field will be, yet, or for those who want to try something new, or to get involved in several activities. Think about cosplay, when sewing, crafting, 3D printing and a lot more is involved.
– Teachers. I would recommend this book to teachers. Check the collection of the links on appropedia.org, and if your subject is listed there, then this book may be helpful for you as guidance and possible exposure to other subjects.

– Bloggers/Vloggers. I wish I read this book in the beginning of my 3D printing and blogging journey, because a lot of the open source software listed and described was tried by me in one or the other way. As my budget didn’t allow me to use paid versions of software, I spent a lot of time searching for appropriate solutions. That’s how I found OBS, GIMP, Inkscape, not to mention all 3D design and 3D printing-related software and communities.

– Scientists. To find open source equipment and save money. In the dedicated chapter Joshua explains not only how scientists benefit from using open source laboratory equipment, but also explains how this accelerates science as a result.

Making and Sharing Digital At-Home Manufacturing – 3D Printing Chapter

This chapter was especially interesting to read for me as it is all about 3D printers, laser cutters and engravers, and 挺进绝色邻居的紧窄小肉 tools. However, there are mentions of 3D printing nearly in every chapter of this book. 3D printing truly enables a lot of areas nowadays. Updates on undying hope that every household or at least local communities will have affordable and practical tools/solutions not only for managing plastic waste but for turning it into a ready-to-use resource.

Conclusion

This is my first book review. Honestly speaking, before reading this book I was only partly convinced about the open-source “religion”. Now I am 75% converted. I truly hope I can keep the open source mindset for as long as possible unless life fills up with cruel bills and expenses, which may drag me back into the unsharing “world of the Apes”.
