This may also generate a small bit of filament sample for other single-colour projects.

Why Valentine’s Day is Popular in 3D Printing

Valentine’s Day holds a special place in 3D printing and other DIY communities for several reasons. This event offers designers an opportunity to showcase their creativity by producing original, and often state-of-the-art, themed designs. It’s not just about gifts; consider the possibilities for decorations, dinner table setups, wardrobe accessories, and other elements that add a romantic touch. Such versatility in creation allows for a personalized and memorable celebration.

– Originality. If you dedicate a little more time to researching popular Valentine’s Day 3D prints, it will then be possible to discover genuinely original and awesome models that, when 3D printed, will not only be appreciated by the receiver but also will grab the attention of your friends, colleagues, or other visitors.

– Red, White & Pink. These are the main Valentine’s Day colors. FDM 3D printing filament is highly customizable and can come in many color shades. Red or pink filament is one of the most popular. These come in matte, pastel, silk, and even sparkly finish options.

– Where to look. When it comes to finding suitable 3D models, the internet is a treasure trove with countless STL file japonensis中国东北老人 offering a diverse collection of files. Whether for free or at a minimal cost, these models provide the foundation for the creations, making the only challenge the enjoyable task of selecting the perfect design.

3D Printers and Materials of Choice

– 3D Printers. Valentine-themed prints can be produced on budget FDM (including multi-color options) and resin 3D printers that have become abundantly available on the market. While all printing methods can produce great results, FDM printers, known for their affordability and versatility, tend to be the top choice for many. One of the key reasons behind this preference is the vast array of filament colors available, offering endless options for customization. The only dilemma then becomes deciding on the perfect color or perhaps discovering the recipient’s favorite hues.

Valentine’s Day 3D Print Ideas & Implementation

The most popular symbol of Valentine’s Day is the heart. Therefore, we see many models offered in the shape of hearts or involving such an element fully or partially. Apart from hearts, we can also expect the following objects and even expressions to be featured: flowers (roses), Cupid, chocolate, candles, cute animals, lovebirds, doves, love letters, ribbons, hugs, kisses, etc. The best way to showcase some of these ideas is to print them out:

Valentine Themed String Models

From my personal experience, I have noticed a significant rise in the popularity of 3D printing string models over the past year, particularly when it comes to printing challenging designs. String models showcase it all: the elegance of the design, skills in tuning slicer software, and 3D printer capabilities. Not to mention that this kind of creation can be achieved by 3D printing only and cannot be replicated by injection molding, 高清一区二区三区日本久 carving, or laser cutting, for example. String models are a brilliant conversation starter if you want to impress someone who is into technology or naturaly tech-savvy.

Talented designer 3DPrintBunny, who is a pioneer in many 3D print design styles, features this technique in her very popular artworks. Admittedly, I was initially hesitant to venture into this, assuming that printing these intricate models would be a challenging task. However, I changed my mind when I discovered that many model creators now provide print profiles alongside their designs. These profiles are specifically tailored to optimize the printing process, ensuring that the print job will be successful. Even if the machine is the same brand but a different make, it can be compatible to use the profile without any changes. The Heart String Artwork took me 6.4 hours to print on my Bambu Lab P1S Combo in two colors.

With the assistance of these print profiles, I was able to print these string art models, and the results were beyond my expectations. Witnessing the transformation of a digital design into a tangible object was a truly gratifying experience. The level of detail and precision achieved through 3D printing left me in awe, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment.

In 2025, Natalie surprised us with another interesting multicolor print – Heart Swing. This quick print, taking just 3-4 hours with not too many color changes, is a challenging test for any printer. Not only does this print test your printer’s string printing capabilities, but it also poses excessive retraction and bed adhesion challenges.

Valentine’s Day Toys and Games

In my professional opinion, Valentine’s Day is not solely reserved for adults to express love and affection. It is also an opportune time to demonstrate affection to our children. With this sentiment in mind, I delved into finding delightful gifts specifically tailored for family activities.

Valentine’s Day Heart Box Puzzles

One of the best customizable and functional 3D print ideas in general are 3D printed puzzle boxes. Such puzzles can be unique for each model, or there may be a secret compartment inside the object. In some cases, only the creators will know the key to the puzzle. Simplistic Valentine’s Day themed puzzle boxes in the shapes of hearts and decorated with flowers can add extra thrill to the moment, as these may contain highly anticipated engagement rings, for example.

Puzzle boxes are great for customization as they can be of any shape. They can look like a box, a ball, or even an animal. This heart is also a nice little 3D printed puzzle box. It is especially interesting because the whole heart can be printed as one item and without any supports. With the right cooling settings, bridging worked nicely when printed on the Prusa i3 MK2. It worked on a larger object as well as on the original size.

Valentine-themed knitted models are particularly appealing as gifts because they feel warm and personal, while still clearly showcasing what makes 3D printing unique. They also scale well, working just as effectively for small desk ornaments as for larger decorative pieces.

Valentine’s Day Themed Ornaments

Searching for Valentine’s Day gifts proved to be a delightful experience, thanks to the immense selection of models available for 3D printing. The abundance of options allowed me to explore various designs, ultimately leading to the discovery of truly remarkable gifts.

To add an extra touch of excellence, I experimented with different colored filaments during the printing process. The outcome exceeded my expectations, as the combination of vibrant hues and intricate designs produced truly stunning results. Throughout the printing journey, I found that FDM printers were particularly well-suited for this task, especially when utilizing tri-color dual and rainbow filaments from Amazon. These filaments enhanced the visual appeal of the prints, making them even more captivating and eye-catching.

Case Study: 3D Printing for School Valentine Exchanges

While many Valentine ideas focus on one-off prints or decorative gifts, school exchanges introduce very specific constraints. Designs need to be small, durable, easy to print at scale, and suitable for a classroom setting where every student receives one. Over time, these constraints naturally shape better design decisions and reveal what actually works when 3D printed objects are used in real school environments.

It’s a time when enthusiasts can truly showcase their skills and demonstrate what these remarkable machines are capable of. With the availability of a wide variety of colors to choose from and numerous websites offering 3D files, the possibilities are endless. The only challenge lies in deciding what to print. In this guide, we will feature some of the best Christmas 3D print ideas.

This Guide Covers

3D Printing as Family Christmas Activity

Christmas presents an ideal occasion to involve the entire family in the process. Whether it’s brainstorming gift ideas or having the kids join in on the printing adventure, it’s an excellent opportunity to ignite their imaginations and potentially spark an interest in the world of 3D printing. Imagine the joy of receiving a gift that someone has custom-made just for you, or decorating the Christmas tree with ornaments that the kids themselves have selected and helped bring to life through 3D printing. It adds a special, individualized touch to the holiday season.

3D Printers of Choice

Christmas-themed prints can be produced on budget FDM and resin 3D printers that have become available on the market in abundance. Each printer type has its pluses and minuses, but if you want to keep the printing process as family-friendly as possible, then FDM 3D printers are the best option. These are much less messy and involve friendlier materials as well.

Remember, even when operating an FDM 3D printer with small kids around, non-stop supervision is highly recommended, as there are high-temperature processes involved, and small parts and plastic bits can be a choking hazard.

The Elegoo Phecda is the first Elegoo laser I’ve reviewed. Having reviewed their extensive range of FDM printers, I was well-prepared to test the Elegoo Phecda laser and see if it had the same build quality and neat design as the printers. Elegoo lasers have been around for a while, and the Elegoo Phecda 20-Watt is no exception. Its versatility allows it to work on multiple engraving and cutting materials. So, in this test review, I will try to show off what the Phecda is capable of with some of the projects I’ve chosen, using natural materials and more technical ones like acrylic. In conclusion, I will share my final thoughts and list of pros and cons.

Unboxing and What’s Included

The package includes left, right, front, and back panels, X-Axis assembly, Optical Shaft assembly, front UV cover, rear UV cover, air filters, laser unit, Antenna, top corner panel covers, eight leg pieces, tools, goggles, some test materials, and an air assist unit. The air assist unit, a crucial component in the cutting process, helps to blow away debris and smoke, ensuring a clean and precise cutting result.

Setup and Design

Unboxing and setting up the Elegoo Phecda was a breeze, taking only about 30 minutes. The process was straightforward, with only a few steps that required some time and attention, such as installing the two belts into the corners and fitting the cables due to the tight space. However, these were minor hiccups in an otherwise smooth setup process.

The UI touchscreen has many functions, enabling you to switch between standard cutting engraving and using the rotation device, which I found convenient and user-friendly.

The Elegoo Phecda has an innovative gantry setup with an air filtration system, which I would call a moving enclosure setup. The air filtration system has a removable charcoal filter with concertina dust and filter mesh on both sides. It did filter out some of the smoke but only worked if the air assist was not connected because the front UV screen could not be installed for the air assist tube to move.

Filter Cartridge
Filter Cartridge

I found the air assist tube very problematic. I tried to find a way to install it without hindering the laser unit’s movement, but luckily, it was only needed when cutting and not engraving.

I did like the idea of the laser light-blocking panels. They meant that you didn’t need an enclosure until you used the laser for cutting using air assist.

Software – LightBurn

After the setup, it’s just a case of checking everything, ensuring it is square and all cables are in the sockets, plugging in power, installing the software you want to use, and connecting to the PC. For my tests, I used Lightburn, which I am used to.

Enclosure

This review package came with an enclosure and a rotation device, which were both used in this testing. The enclosure was used because of the problem with the air hose catching and not letting the laser move. But I would always recommend buying an enclosure just for safety. The laser light-blocking panels and the extraction setup make the working environment more user-friendly and ensure a secure working environment.

The enclosure that Elegoo supplied was easy to set up. It took about 10 minutes. The corners and lid Velcro together, then it’s just installing the four bolts to hold the fan, which has its own power supply. It also comes with a decent length of extraction hose, which gives the user a better chance of placing the tube through a window. Also, it has a UV window to the front and top so the user can still see the project.

Testing Different Materials

To test and review the Elegoo Phecda 20-Watt, I chose different materials and techniques to showcase its capabilities. I have done some cutting and engraving with wood, engraving on Anodized aluminium, cutting and engraving 3mm Acrylic, and engraving on slate and powered-coated metal. The 20-watt laser unit performed very well. It can cut thick wood and engrave in fine detail, as you hopefully will see in the projects and materials I’ve used.

Anodised Aluminium Cards

First, I tried some blue anodised aluminium cards, which I engraved with my logo and Elegoo’s. These didn’t take much time, even with some high-detail parts. They were engraved in one pass at a decent speed.

Wood Cutting and Engraving

Next, I did some wood cutting and engraving simultaneously, adjusting the power and speeds of the different project sections. The engraving and cutting came out clean with a nice finish, showing the laser has a decent-sized laser dot for a 20-watt unit. The Hellraiser box I cut and engraved, I think, shows the significant details of how fine the laser can engrave and how precise it cuts with the tab joints on all the sides.

Plus, the Easter projects show how clean the cutting detail is with the complex front on the hinged basket. The precision of the Elegoo Phecda’s cutting and engraving capabilities is truly impressive.

Acrylic

We then tried to see if we could cut and engrave acrylic, which many people ask if a laser can cut. I used a product from Great Carve, which is 1.5mm scratch acrylic with a solid background and a coating that can be engraved to show the background colour. I cut and engraved both in one pass with some excellent results. I was surprised at how clean the cuts were, even on such a detailed design.

A friend gave me this design. It’s one of her own, but I just had to try it as I liked it. So, incorporating acrylic into the wood design instead of either painting or foiling the pieces made it pop out. Also, using up the cutouts in different sections to fill the bee in or just adding a bit to a couple of the honeycomb edges showed how cleanly the Elegoo Phecda coped with the cutting.

Natural Slate

Then, I used some of my favourite materials: natural slate. These can be bought easily and are not expensive, but they make beautiful gifts or just for your home. These were also done in one pass at the same speed as wood but with higher power.

Engraved Slate Stone

I used one of the engravings from the box to show off the incredible detail that can be achieved on the slate, plus adding Elegoo’s name to the centre. It takes very little time for such an effective result to be achieved. The slate took about 1- 1/2 minutes. Read more about Laser Engraving on Stone-like Materials on 高清一区二区三区日本.

Rotary Attachment – Powered Coating

Then, we tried the rotation device add-on using an old powered-coated travel mug. The rotation device takes a couple of minutes to install. It’s just a case of removing the y-axis cable from its socket and installing it from the rotation device.

Laser Engraved Travel Mug on a Rotary Attachment

The mug was an old one, but it was the only one available at the time. I usually don’t use these types of mugs, and it was my first time trying engraving on thick, powered-coating mugs, not anodised ones. The result still came out nice, even with no testing.

One thing I liked about the Elegoo Phecda was its easy-to-set function on the UI screen to swap between standard engraving and rotation device normally; it can only be done on the laser program, not the UI screen. The rotation device performed nicely and did great on the travel mug.

To test the technology on various stone surfaces, I used three laser engravers we reviewed on 高清一区二区三区日本 recently: the TOOCAA L2 20-watt, the Longer Nano Pro 12-watt, and the Acmer P1 6-watt. The selection of these varying wattages demonstrates the versatility of laser engravers for different projects. The reviews provide additional examples of slate engravings performed with each laser engraver. Moving forward, this guide will be continually updated to include more laser engraving projects on stone-like surfaces and additional images.

Tools and Consumables

Laser engraving on shiny and stone-like surfaces may require specialized tools and consumables to achieve precise and lasting designs. These can be bought cheaply on Amazon.

– Stone-like Materials. If pebbles can be collected from the beach, tiles and slate stones, especially slate stone coasters, are abundant on Amazon.

Safety gear, such as goggles and a dust mask, is important to protect against fine particles generated during engraving and post-processing.

Laser Engraving on White Tiles

This section aims to guide you through the necessary materials and techniques for applying coatings essential for ceramic engraving on tiles, as most lasers do not naturally leave a dark mark on ceramics. To begin, you can mix titanium dioxide in two different ways: one method involves a 50/50 ratio of titanium dioxide powder to isopropyl alcohol, and the other combines one part titanium dioxide powder with one part PVA (polyvinyl acetate) and three parts water. Detailed ratios will be provided later.

Start by choosing an airtight container to mix the titanium dioxide with either the PVA mixture or the isopropyl alcohol—both are effective. However, the alcohol emits a strong odor during engraving, so I prefer the PVA mixture. Once thoroughly mixed, apply the titanium dioxide solution to the ceramic tiles using a paintbrush or spray.

  • One part Titanium dioxide powder, one part PVA, three parts water
  • One part ISO alcohol, one part titanium dioxide powder 50/50 mix

I recommend using a foam brush since spray bottles may clog. Allow the coating to dry completely; typically, one coat suffices for detailed engraving results. Post-engraving cleanup involves simply soaking the tiles in warm water for a few minutes to wash away any residual coating.

– Settings. For engraving these, I used the same speed as wood laser engraving; I just adjusted the power to 60 to 100%. Here are a few tiles engraved using this method.

This was one of my attempts to engrave on ceramic tiles, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results the Longer Nano Pro 12W delivered. The white ceramic tiles were prepared by painting them with a mixture of titanium dioxide powder, PVA, and water to 高清一区二区三区日本 a surface that would bond well with the ceramic. I engraved several tiles, some of which I mounted in a frame as a wedding present. The recipients were amazed by the detail and personalized touch of the gift.

As a wedding present idea, I 高清一区二区三区日本d a set of four engraved tiles and framed them, which I thought turned out beautifully. Each tile featured a unique design that symbolized aspects of the couple’s journey together, making the gift both personal and memorable. The elegant framing added a sophisticated touch, perfect for displaying in their new home.

– Spray paint. Spray paint is another option, though it tends not to adhere well to the tile and can chip off easily, so I generally do not prefer this method. Despite this drawback, it can yield visually appealing results. For example, I once spray-painted a white ceramic tile with silver spray paint and then engraved a design onto it. The laser effectively removed the spray paint, revealing and slightly engraving the image into the tile, creating a striking contrast.

Here’s another example that didn’t involve spraying/coating. While testing the Snapmaker Artisan 3-in-1, Max Funkner used the 40W laser module to engrave custom shapes on a green kitchen tile. There’s significant potential here, as plain tiles can be easily customized with various markings and logos.

Tiles are an excellent material for laser engraving, offering a natural aesthetic. The advanced capabilities of modern laser engravers enable the creation of a wide range of decorative elements suitable for home improvement projects or personalized memorabilia.

Slate Laser Engraving

In my experience, slate is a standout natural material for laser engraving, consistently producing stunning results. It is affordable and readily available and also lends itself well to personalization, making it ideal for gifts or home decor. Depending on the specific characteristics of the slate, the engravings’ appearance can vary, with some slates being greyer and others nearly white.

– Setting Tips. I used the same speed and power settings for engraving slate as I did for tiles. Moreover, slate is an excellent material for engraving as it emits minimal smell or fumes and yields impressive results. The engravings are permanent and do not fade or rub off. While multiple passes can deepen the engraving, a single pass is usually sufficient for excellent outcomes.

I enjoy using slate for laser engraving because it delivers impressive results and often becomes a conversation starter due to the quality of the work. Slate is also easily accessible and affordable, making it an excellent material for special occasions and personalized items.

– Machines. For engraving on larger surfaces like the image above, I used TOOCAA L2 20-watt, and then I used the Longer Nano Pro 12-watt for smaller tile-like surfaces. Here are some examples where I engraved custom images on a coaster like slate stones.

Custom engraved slate stone coasters offer a unique blend of functionality and style, making them an excellent choice for both personal and commercial use. These coasters can be personalized with logos, monograms, or bespoke artwork, adding a sophisticated touch to any setting. They are perfect for corporate gifts, wedding favors, or as a stylish addition to one’s home decor. Additionally, their natural durability and resistance to heat make them practical for protecting surfaces from drink condensation, while their custom designs turn them into conversation pieces at any gathering.

Laser Engraving on Natural Pebbles

Pebbles and stones are easy to engrave and carry sentimental value, whether collected from a beach during a holiday or picked up at a memorable location. The engraving results on such materials can range from creamy to bright white, especially on granite-type pebbles. I’ve observed that darker pebbles yield better results, with the engravings appearing brighter and whiter.

For those with more natural colors, the engravings retain a rustic and authentic look, yet remain strikingly effective. As demonstrated in the pictures, each stone or pebble produces a unique result in terms of color and texture.

– Engraving Tips. When engraving these, I slightly reduce the speed and adjust the power settings between 70 and 100%, though the optimal settings will depend on the specific laser engraver used.

– Engraving on Stones. I am continuing to explore the potential of pebble engraving. It’s exciting to consider the variety of designs that can be achieved. Each pebble’s unique shape and texture offer a new canvas for creativity, whether you’re engraving names, dates, or intricate patterns. This method is not only a fantastic way to personalize a space or commemorate special occasions but also a gentle, eco-friendly craft that makes use of natural materials directly from the earth.

You need to install a top bracket extension to use the motorized sliding bed and the rotor device. This extension raises the laser by four inches, allowing it to focus on the material.

Software

After assembling all the components, the next step involves software installation. Depending on your preference, you load the software from the TF card, choosing between Lightburn, Laser GRBL, or both. The TF card includes files for setting up both programs, with Laser GRBL receiving additional access buttons specifically designed for use with the Longer Nano Pro.

Both programs work well with the Longer Nano Pro, but I use Lightburn as I am more used to the program and settings. Once this part is done, you’re ready to go. Turn on the laser unit, connect to your preferred program, and start your laser engraving experience.

In the next sections, we will try to show you what can be done with the extension bed and rotor device. On the Longer YouTube channel, there are some good videos from Longer on a more detailed setup of these, as well as instructions on how to set up all the parts of the Nano Pro and the software.

Testing Different Materials

In this section, we will demonstrate the range of materials that the Longer Nano Pro can work with and the results it can achieve. This includes showcasing its capabilities in engraving and cutting, as well as utilizing the rotor and extension table. We have experimented with various materials and techniques to provide a comprehensive overview of the Nano Pro capabilities, from cutting intricate designs like a box and a feather, to engraving on painted tiles, anodized metals, and natural materials.

Wood Cutting

The Longer Nano Pro 12W demonstrates remarkable capability in cutting highly detailed patterns with great accuracy. We were very impressed with how finely the machine managed to cut, and the results are evident. Initially, I 高清一区二区三区日本d a very detailed feather using AI, similar to most of the engravings and designs I will be testing. The feather features sections as thin as 0.5mm and was cut from 2mm basswood in a single pass. Although some scorching occurred (expected without air assist and with such close cuts), it was manageable.

Feather and Ruler
Feather – close look. The highly detailed feather was cut from 2mm basswood in one pass

I also tested cutting a chest, requiring the sliding extension bed for parts exceeding 100mm. Despite the larger size, the Nano handled these parts well, expanding the scope for larger projects. Additionally, I made a quick and simple phone stand from 3mm plywood, which took a couple of passes to complete. Here are the results of these tests.

Wood Engraving

For wood engraving, I utilized the settings provided on the TF card along with a speed and power grid that I had compiled to determine the optimal look. Longer’s settings for the Nano Pro are nearly perfect, indicating they have conducted detailed testing themselves. This offers a good starting point, but as with most materials, variations can occur, so it’s best to perform your own tests.

In this section, I 高清一区二区三区日本d some images with AI and then used a free online program called Imager to adjust the DPI and material algorithm for these specific engravings. My prompt was: Two Chinese Warriors from the past guarding the Great Wall of China.

When working with wood and other materials that produce significant fumes, the Nano Pro’s cover effectively expels them; it just requires an extension hose leading to a window for optimal air expulsion. Here are the results achieved on 2mm basswood at a speed of 6000 and 60% power, using the Imager algorithm to enhance detail.

Slate Engraving

I enjoy using slate for laser engraving because it delivers impressive results and often becomes a conversation starter due to the quality of the work. Slate is also easily accessible and affordable, making it an excellent material for special occasions and personalized items. In this instance, the Nano Pro 12W performed admirably, as the coasters fit perfectly on the bed. Here are some examples of the images I engraved on them.

Each tile featured a unique design that symbolized aspects of the couple’s journey together, making the gift both personal and memorable. The elegant framing added a sophisticated touch, perfect for displaying in their new home.

Engraving on Natural Pebbles

Pebbles are a natural material I’ve been eager to experiment with, especially since they are easy to find or can serve as keepsakes from the beach. Given the Nano Pro’s small engraving area, I thought they would be ideal for this purpose. Here are a couple of results on pebbles of different colors. The black pebble yielded the best outcome, featuring striking white engravings without the addition of any paint.

Since visiting Flsun a year ago, I have been eager to review the Flsun T1 Delta 3D printer. At that time, information on the new model was limited, but the promise of exceptionally fast print speeds was highlighted. The Flsun T1 is a delta-style printer, a less common design in the market than the more prevalent core X/Y or bed slinger configurations. This design features three arms that maneuver the extruder both around and upwards. Flsun is renowned for its delta printers, and the T1 stands out by offering significantly faster speeds than any previous models, except for its larger sibling, the S1. In this review, we will explore the capabilities of the T1 in terms of print quality and speed, tackling challenging prints and experimenting with various filaments. As usual, in the end, we will publish our conclusion and pros and cons.

Setup and japonensis中国东北老人

In this section, we will outline the setup process for the Flsun T1. The process is challenging—the difficulty comes not from the number of parts but from their size; some components are notably intricate to install. For individuals with limited experience assembling printers, the setup could take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Even with my expertise, it required over 2 hours. Below is a guide to the setup procedure that worked for me, highlighting areas that may present challenges.

First, following the instructions, I installed the filament holder to the top shell, then inserted the 3-axis into the base shell and fastened it with the screws, then the top shell and released the extruder carrying arms.

The next step was installing the extruder, which proved quite challenging. I started by attaching the tiny M3x3 and M3x5 screws. These screws are very small and fiddly, making them difficult to handle. After securing the screws, I slid the extruder onto the arms’ pins, tightening the locking screws, which was tough due to their small size and matching black color. Then, I assembled the air supply hose and cables from the top shell to the extruder, ensuring everything was securely locked.

Camera, cable and LED strip

Next, I installed the camera into the USB C port. The cable provided with the camera is too long, which doesn’t allow for a neat setup. At this point, I also installed the limit switches located under the top shell.

Routing the main cable up the left side was another fiddly part of the process. I had to remove a slim metal panel to feed the cable upwards, which was not straightforward.

The touchscreen installation at the front also required precise handling. I lifted a small clip to insert the ribbon cable into the slot and then secured it back.

Finally, I installed the enclosure sides and the door, making sure to use the spacers provided to prevent breaking the glass when tightening the screws.

Once assembled, I checked that the voltage switch, tucked away deep inside its slot, was correctly set to match my region’s settings. Then, I plugged in the printer and powered it on.

– WiFi and Self-inspection. I set the language for the initial startup, configured the WLAN settings, and ran the self-inspection. This process tested the heat-up detection, motor operation, vibration compensation, and bed leveling, ensuring the printer was ready for its first print.

Flsun T1 Features and Details

– Enclosed Design. The Flsun T1 is distinguished by several unique features not commonly found in other 3D printers. It boasts a fully enclosed design with a HEPA-activated carbon filter and runs on Klipper firmware, which enables precise bed leveling thanks to its dual sensors.

AI Camera. Additionally, an AI camera can be installed inside or outside the printer to monitor prints and 高清一区二区三区日本 timelapse videos of the printed models.

The printer includes an optimized input-shaping algorithm that significantly reduces vibrations, enhancing the overall print quality. It features a 4.3-inch UI touchscreen, a popular size among contemporary 3D printers, providing a user-friendly interface to control the printer. A robust LED light strip along the right axis offers ample illumination inside the enclosure.

– Extruder. The T1’s extruder is notably lightweight yet capable of reaching temperatures up to 300℃. This lightness facilitates smooth arm movement. It is equipped with a durable dual-gear extruder gear setup made entirely of metal.

– Cooling. The T1’s cooling method is novel. Unlike most 3D printers, which have cooling fans directly on the extruder, the T1 uses a large hose fed from the top shell. This hose is connected to a CPAP high-pressure turbofan running at 30,000 RPM, delivering wind speeds 3.75 times faster than typical small cooling fans.

– Noise. The primary drawback is the noise level. The turbofan is loud, making the T1 less suitable for overnight use or operation in quiet environments. However, Flsun has attempted to mitigate this by providing a model for a silencer that fits over the fan intake. While it makes a slight difference, the noise reduction is minimal, but this compromise is necessary for cooling at the high speeds at which the T1 can print.

Flsun Slicer Software

The Flsun T1 includes generic Flsun slicer software, which can be found on the USB stick for installation on a PC. This software offers a comprehensive range of settings suitable for various filaments and printing parameters. It features an extensive selection of material and printing settings, which is particularly advantageous as many slicers bundled with printers often offer only basic options. After discovering numerous models to print, I used the provided settings to slice the files, aiming to maintain the accuracy of the tests as much as possible.

As usual, the models for this machine can be sliced on other slicer software, such as Cura, Orca, or Prusa Slicer.

Test Prints

Flexi Print-in-Place Prints

Flexi print-in-place models are popular choices among 3D printing enthusiasts. Wanting to try one, I selected a design from Flex Factory, which I purchased through Cults 3D. The Flexi Print-in-Place Phoenix is a particularly stunning model. It not only showcases the vibrancy of the filament and the quality of the print but also features numerous moving sections, effectively demonstrating the capabilities of the 3D printer.

Fan Art Miniatures

At the time of this review, the model Wukong Black Myth Monkey King was quite popular among 3D printing enthusiasts. I discovered this free STL file on Makerworld. It features great detail, including some very delicate parts that I was initially sceptical the T1 could handle. However, the results were impressive, particularly the intricate details on the hands and tunic. I am genuinely surprised that FDM 3D printer can achieve such results.

Large Print in Vase Mode

I wanted to test the Flsun T1’s maximum print size, as it is advertised to handle dimensions up to Φ260x330mm³. However, I discovered that this maximum size is achievable only if the print is centred at the end. To achieve the maximum build volume on T1, the model should be a cylinder in the beginning and cone-shaped in the end. Due to the mechanics of delta 3D printers, the three arms cannot extend to certain angles, limiting the print height near the edges of the build plate.

For this test, I chose the giant Redwood Tree Trunk model from 高清一区二区三区日本, available on Cults 3D. Given the massive size of the print, we opted to print it in vase mode to conserve both time and filament. The Flsun T1 managed a maximum height of 288mm on this model because it could not print any higher near the edge of the build plate. This test once again proved that Φ260 diameter width is only possible until the height of 288 mm.

Delta printers are known for their fast and precise capabilities in printing vase models. T1 is not exempt. The model came out well, and the vibrant tri-color Yousu filament from Amazon beautifully highlighted all the bark details.

Functional Prints

For this section, I printed two models from the files supplied by Flsun. One is the AI camera external tripod mount, and the other is the silencer for the CPAP cooling system. Both were printed in R3D high-speed black PLA filament. I used this filament to try to test the speed of the T1 printer as it would be printing at max speeds up to 1000mm/s. As it was printing, I watched the screen, and at some point, the printer reached these speeds with no print quality loss.

Complex Kit Model – RC Car

I’ve always wanted to try this particular model, and with the Flsun T1’s speed capabilities, it seemed like the perfect opportunity despite the lengthy print time these models require. Fortunately, I found the 1/10th-scale Lamborghini Gallardo by CarPrint on Cults3D and the chassis by Dukedocs. This model can be converted into a full 1/10th-scale RC car with additional electronic components.

The tyres came out exceptionally well, with impressive detail on the treads, which was particularly notable for TPU. This model is worth checking out for its stunning results and functionality as a fully operational RC car.

Compare to other Flsun 3D Printers

FLSUN was one of the first 3D printer manufacturers to 高清一区二区三区日本 speedy consumer 3D printers implementing Klipper firmware. Their V400 and Super Racer (SR) were highly praised. Recently, FLSUN launched their new S1 and T1 series machines with many extra features, such as higher speeds and flow rates and enclosed chambers. The Flsun S1 also has an AI Lidar sensor, smart zone heating, and a built-in filament dryer.

You also need to install LightBurn or LaserGRBL on your PC and the app on your phone. On the USB, there was lots of information and files to get you started, plus a material guide on settings for both cutting and engraving, which I thought was good for people buying their first laser engraver.

Laser Unit japonensis中国东北老人

The ACME P1 S Pro laser unit is manually focused using a small metal focusing tool measuring 23mm. First, remove the red plastic laser light cover from the bottom of the laser unit, which is fastened on by magnets. Then, slacken the side bolt on the laser unit to allow the unit to move up and down. Lift it and place the tool under the laser aluminum housing, set it down onto the focusing tool, and tighten the side bolt to lock it in place. Finally, remove the tool and replace the red cover.

6-Watt Laser Module

The ACMER P1 S Pro I reviewed came with the 6-watt laser unit and it did not disappoint; it was capable of detailed engraving and cutting thin materials in one pass. It just shows that a little 6-watt laser unit can perform many of the tasks people want a laser to do at a low wattage.

Optionally, 10W, 20W, and IR (Infrared) laser modules for the ACMER P1 series machines can be purchased via the official website.

Tested Materials

In this section, I demonstrate the capabilities of the ACMER P1 Pro by engraving and cutting a variety of materials. I selected slate, wood, and anodized aluminum for engraving, along with thin basswood for cutting. Initially, I was concerned that some materials might be too challenging to engrave and yield satisfactory results. However, after tweaking a few settings and conducting tests, the outcomes were outstanding.

Slate Engraving

Slate has become a popular material for engraving coasters and signs. Initially, I doubted that the 6-watt ACMER P1 Pro unit could handle it, but it proved capable of producing engravings with great detail and satisfactory depth.

Wood Engraving

Most lasers can easily engrave on wood, which often yields stunning detail and results. Despite being a low-watt unit, this laser engraved wood with surprising speed and depth of color. It achieved this at a rate of 8000mm at 100% power, a respectable speed for engraving.

Impressively, all parts were cut from a 2mm baseboard in one pass. This was surprising, given the low wattage of the laser and the absence of air assist, which usually aids in cutting. I also repurposed some offcuts from the wheels and windows to enhance the model with additional elements like the two oil drums and seat pads in the rear bed.

Secondly, the door switch, which operates via a magnet, ensures that the laser stops and turns off whenever the door is opened. Thirdly, the device features built-in flame detection in the laser head. If flames are detected, the laser automatically shuts off and initiates an airflow to help extinguish the flame.

Then, the TOOCAA L2 is equipped with a gyroscope within its frame, which triggers an alarm and halts operation if the machine becomes off-balance.

TOOCAA 20W Diode Laser Module

The TOOCAA L2 is available with either 10W or 20W laser modules. I tested the 20W version, and it is of high quality and robust, encased in an aluminum body. The module is neatly designed and straightforward to install and focus.

Installation involves sliding it into the mount’s grooves and securing it with the side lever. For focusing, lower the focus lever on the left, release the right-side lever, and once the focus lever touches the material, lock it in place. As a full 20-watt optical strength unit, it offers substantial power for both cutting and engraving a variety of materials.

Air Assist and Extraction System

Unlike many laser units, the TOOCAA L2 I purchased includes both an air assist unit and built-in extraction. The enclosure features a mounting point on the back for a large extraction fan and hose, both of which were included in the kit. This setup significantly improves the working environment by efficiently extracting fumes out through a tube to an open window.

The air assist unit that came with the TOOCAA L2 is robust, featuring an adjustable air pressure control switch on its cable. This switch allows for precise regulation of airflow, enhancing the unit’s utility by adjusting the speed at which air is forced through, proving very useful during operation.

Enclosure

This is the first laser engraver I’ve used that includes a built-in enclosure, which greatly improves the workspace and the overall user experience. The TOOCAA L2 enclosure is composed of six parts made from 6mm thick orange plexiglass. Assembling the enclosure can take some time since it all fits together with aluminum extrusions and high-quality fittings.

LED lights on three sides illuminate the workspace, adding a nice touch. Additionally, it features a safety mechanism on the door that automatically shuts off the laser when opened.

Testing

The TOOCAA L2 arrived without pre-configured settings, accompanied only by a Lightburn software setup. Given its powerful capabilities, I proceeded with caution. I experimented with various materials to determine the optimal settings. Below are some of the materials I tested, detailing both cutting and engraving processes to find the settings that worked best.

Slate Engraving

I purchased some inexpensive slate coasters with varying surfaces to test, as you can see. The TOOCAA L2 performed impressively on these, producing clear and appealing engravings that I found to be quite satisfactory.

Material Settings for TOOCAA Machines

I referred to the material settings tables on the TOOCAA website for guidance on adjusting the settings. These tables provide a list of all materials along with their respective settings for laser cutting and engraving. Key settings to keep an eye on include material thickness – especially important when cutting-laser power, speed, and the number of passes.

TOOCAA L2 10W Laser Engraving Settings for Materials

We recommend always testing settings on scrap materials first. When laser cutting, different types of wood will require different settings due to variations in wood softness. Materials suitable for laser engraving and cutting jobs are also available on their website.

Compare TOOCAA Laser Engravers and Cutters

The TOOCAA L2 represents the next generation of laser machines, succeeding the L1 model.

On 高清一区二区三区日本, we have featured a few laser cutters and engravers that operate with diode lasers.

For a comparison with other laser cutters and engravers, please refer to the detailed Laser Cutters and Engravers Guide.

The TOOCAA L2 W20, featuring diode lasers in an enclosed design, aligns with offerings from xTool, Snapmaker, and Creality. On our website, you can compare their prices, capabilities, and functionalities. What distinguishes the TOOCAA is its competitive pricing and enhanced safety features.

Unboxing and Assembly

The Sovol SV08 arrived well-packaged. This CoreXY 3D printer, compared to the more common bed-slinger type 3D printers, requires a bit more time to assemble – about an hour – with easy-to-follow instructions. A crucial point to note is the placement of cables; some are located in tricky areas and can easily become trapped or damaged. However, with careful handling, these issues can be managed. As expected with a CoreXY printer, which features a framed design, there are significantly more parts to assemble and more bolts.

The process was straightforward: first, installing the Z uprights, all being labeled, then the top rail, and then installing the gantry. After all the mechanical parts are assembled, it’s just a case of connecting all the wires.

– WiFi. After assembly, you have to use the USB stick, which has a file for setting up the WiFi. It’s an easy process: just open the file and type in your WiFi name and password into the file and save. Then insert it into the USB port of the printer, which then updates your WiFi details and logs the printer onto your WiFi.

Features

Let’s explore some of the Sovol SV08 features: linear rails, extruder head, camera, Z motors, UI screen, and connections.
– Linear Rails. The linear rails, which the printer has on all axes, make the movement a lot smoother and help with the speed.

Bed Leveling

After the printer is assembled, the first task is to level the printer. Begin by navigating to the leveling section on the screen and selecting ‘Calibrate Z Offset.’ The printer will automatically heat the bed to 60°C, calibrate the Z offset, then home the X, Y, and Z axes. Next, it will perform the Quad Gantry Level followed by the Bed Mesh process; this entire sequence takes about 5 minutes.

After leveling, proceed to print the bed test print, which consists of 5 circles. While it’s printing, observe the print to see if any Z adjustment is needed. If so, adjust it during the printing process.

Slicer Software

The Sovol SV08 includes the ORCA slicer on the USB stick, a software that is becoming increasingly popular among users. With the printer profiles already installed, the slicer was easy to set up and start printing.

Featured above is a Dragon model with automatic organic tree supports generated in Orca slicer. Such models may be challenging for some printers as more slicer settings need to be tuned in order to print it well. I was pleased to see the SV08 profile in Orca is well-tuned, as I am completely satisfied with the print result.

Klipper Firmware

The Sovol SV08 is equipped with Klipper firmware, which offers many functions for improved print quality. While it may initially seem complex, it becomes more manageable with use, and there is ample information available online. A major advantage of using Klipper is the ability to access the printer remotely via the web. You can log into the Klipper interface by obtaining the printer’s IP address from the UI screen and entering it into your browser. This provides full access to all of Klipper’s features, where you can add macros and control all aspects of the printer.

Test Prints

This is the part I like best: finding out how well the printer can perform. The Sovol SV08 performed excellently in this part; no matter what prints I chose, they printed excellently. First off, I printed the 12-minute Benchy from the USB stick, which came out nicely. Then I started some more complicated models, some with high details and very small parts.

Multi-Part Prints

For this series of prints, I selected models with parts that clip together, allowing you to appreciate not only the fine details but also the various colors. As evident from the printed models, some parts were quite small and had to fit into tight spaces. This demonstrates that the Sovol SV08 can print with high accuracy, as all the parts clipped tightly into place.

Flexi Prints

Flexible prints are one type of printing that often amazes people, as it’s hard to believe that all the parts are printed simultaneously and joined together. The flexible print I selected was composed of five parts: the tail, body, two wings, and a head, all of which simply click together. The tail, legs, and head are articulated, allowing movement. Additionally, using dual-color single-strand filament enhanced some remarkable details.

Functional Prints

3D prints can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing for everyday items, adding stunning details. In this section, I selected a few models to test the printer’s ability to produce high-detail prints that are practical, not just for display. The Dragon pot planter from 高清一区二区三区日本 is an excellent example of this.

This model is particularly challenging as it requires a lot of supports. This is where Orca Slicer comes in handy, as their organic tree supports are placed automatically and do the job. The model was printed without issues, and dual filament landed very well on the model, featuring a specific color shade on each side.

Vase

My final test print choice was a non-vase mode, yet still an astounding vase by ChelsCCT. Her Trippy Wave Vase is an excellent choice to showcase dual-color filaments.

For this review, I used dual-color filaments from Amazon to test the printer’s ability to handle color transitions smoothly. These filaments are ideal for producing visually striking prints. The Sovol SV08 3D printer managed this task well, showcasing its capability to execute complex color patterns and bring creative ideas to life with impressive detail and quality.

Compare to Other Sovol 3D Printers

The Sovol SV08 is the latest addition to the Sovol SV series of 3D printers. On this website, you can also find a review of the Sovol SV07 Plus, a plus-sized, Klipper-enabled 3D printer that demonstrated good results in our tests. As an open-source printer, the Sovol SV08 emerges as a canvas for enthusiasts and modders to unleash their creativity through modifications and enhancements, as well as add-ons that Sovol is selling, such as an enclosure and a 5-inch touch screen. I have not tried these, but I think they will only make this printer better as it will be able to print even more filament types. While the assembly process of this printer demands a bit more time and patience, I found the nature of the process easy, with the build quality and comprehensive instructions that guided me through each step.
